This series contains handwritten minutes, published biennial reports, and a few pamphlets and publications related to the Executive Committee of the Foreign Mission Society of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the United States (1837-1869) and the Board of Foreign Missions of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the United States of America (1869-1918). The minutes are bound, and most of the bound volumes include an index at the beginning of the volume. The minutes later than 1918 chronicle the legal steps taken to hand the work over to the United Lutheran Church in America.
